3 Steps to Become an Authority with VIDEO

In this Video Blog Post You Will Learn:

  • How to Become an Authority!
  • How to use Video Marketing to get the Most Impact!
  • The Big Mistake Most Marketers are making–and it’s costing them big time!

If you’re a Coach, Consultant, Author or Speaker looking to grow your business, get more exposure and charge more for your products and services then you must learn how to become an authority in your field. Not just an “expert”…there are lots of those. But learn how to become an authority. Anyone can become an expert, it’s your job to be perceived as THE Authority or “Go-to-Guy” (or Gal!) in your industry!

Why would you want to learn how to become an Authority? Well, so you can attract your ideal client, the ones that easily see the value of what you have to offer and are more than willing to pay for your high ticket products and services.

Think about it: as an Authority in your field, you can attract clients to you rather than having to go out and “hunt” for your next client and then convince them to work with you. That sounds pretty cool, right?

The first step to become an Authority has nothing to do with your product, service, or even your marketing! The first step starts with YOU. YOU must believe in yourself and your services. YOU must make the conscious decision to become the authority and have something of great value to offer your clients.

“When you Undervalue what you do, the World will Undervalue who you are!”
– Oprah Winfrey

Since you are here, I have to assume that you do believe in yourself, so let’s get onto how to become an authority by using video marketing the right way.
There are THREE essential ingredients that all of your authority-producing videos need if you want to see real results that grow your business:

1. Remarkable

Marie Forleo offers REMARKABLE Content!

The content and the message you convey (not to mention HOW you convey it) needs to be REMARKABLE. Yes, Content is King; however, the quality of that content is going to separate you from the millions of court jesters out there. Your message, and the value that you deliver in that message, is crucial to getting your videos viewed and shared. You can’t “create” a viral video; you can create a video that offers great value that impels people to share it. When a video is shared over and over and over again – it goes viral!  Do not hesitate to deliver your BEST content for free to share with subscribers! How are you Remarkable?

2. Demonstrable

Dave Powers is VERY Demonstrable!

Give your video-viewers something to look at! You may be great looking, or not, but it will be hard to hold the viewers attention if all they have to look at is your talking head in front of a white background, for 5 minutes. This means show demonstrations, b-roll footage, use a whiteboard, have a unique or dynamic background, or demonstrate how to do something. The more you use video – a medium that allows movement, editing, music, and the ability to “show” a story, the more engaged your viewers will be!

Look, they’re already watching hours of television and video each week. Use that established habit and fully engage your audience with your video marketing strategies.

3. Actionable

Tell People What to Do NEXT!

A great video is nothing if it doesn’t inspire your viewer into action. And beyond inspiration, if you don’t guide them to the next step then you have lost them. Action is the step that most people that want to learn how to become an authority miss. At the end of each video include a specific Call to Action that tells your audience what to do next. But, take it a step further. Don’t just tell them “what” to do, tell them “why” to do it as well. The more compelling your reason for why they must take the action and move down your funnel the more likely your audience will do exactly what you say.

So here is what you need to do next in order to learn how to become an authority using video marketing the right way in your business: Prepare Remarkable Content that your audience can immediately put into action; Plan out a Demonstrable Video that is visually stimulating; Make your video Actionable by strategically planning out your audiences next move – what should they do, why should they do it, and get them into your sales funnel.

When you post a video on your website should you always include written text with the video as well?

I enjoyed the video but didn’t read the text portion so I was just wondering what your thoughts were.

  6. Hi, James,
your video components added to video is just what I like and want to use.
But my content is mailly in Russian. Any solution, please?
    Regards,

  7. @Glenn,

Not sure of James position on this, but noticed your question. Here’s my 2 cents, lol!

A blog post NEEDS to have text in order for the search engine “web crawlers” to pick up your content for seo purposes for getting ranked.

Also, (just my opinion) but I think its good to have text and video on a post as to give visitors a few options. Some like reading some like watching. :-)

Hope this helps to answer your question!
